From June 10 to 12, 2026, representatives of RRA SREM took part in the second international event within the GET-IN project (GETting persons with disabilities Included in civil society and democratic life), held in Turin, Italy.
The host of the gathering was the organization APS Si Può Fare, and participants had the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in everyday and democratic community life.
Three Days of Experience Sharing and Good Practices
On the first day, participants visited Raffinerie Sociali, where they learned about the host organization’s work, projects, and areas of activity. The central theme was the Independent Living methodology — an approach that enables persons with disabilities to achieve autonomy and actively participate in the community. The evening concluded in an informal atmosphere with a joint buffet dinner.
On the second day, a visit to a residential facility for independent living projects provided practical insight into how this methodology is applied in real-life settings. Through workshops, role-playing, and participatory lab activities, participants, together with young persons with disabilities, experienced what inclusion means in practice. The day ended with a joint dinner of project partners.
On the third day, through participatory games, simulations, and a final brainstorming session, key conclusions and messages were discussed and taken home by the partners.
About the GET-IN Project
The GET-IN project is funded by the European Union and brings together civil society organizations, local authorities, and development agencies from several countries — including Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Ireland. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society and the volunteer sector to contribute to the full inclusion of persons with disabilities, with particular attention to vulnerable groups such as migrants, youth, and the elderly.
Through its participation in this project, RRA SREM reaffirms its commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible community.
