The Srem district, for whose territory the RDA Srem was founded, covers an area of ​​3,486 km2. 311,053 inhabitants live in this area (according to the 2011 census), that is, 16.23% of the total population of AP Vojvodina, and 4.37% of the total population of the Republic of Serbia.
There are a total of 7 municipalities with 109 settlements in the Srem district. 55% of the population is rural; 73% of the area is arable agricultural land.
The district has an excellent geographical and strategic position considering that it is located on two Pan-European Corridors VII (Danube Corridor with a length of 45 km) and Corridor X from two directions (Highway BG-ZG 72 km and Highway BG – Novi Sad 38 km).
According to the draft of the future spatial plan of the Republic of Serbia, part of the Srem district belongs to the MEGA development zone, which means that the Srem region belongs to the central area of ​​development of the Republic of Serbia, favorable for further economic development, infrastructure development and further attraction of investments.
In the last few years, this area has experienced expansion in terms of attracting investments and putting free space into the function of work zones.

The comparative advantage is extremely high-quality agricultural land and intensive agriculture as a traditionally represented branch of development.
