Today, the second EoE (Exchange of experience) meeting was held in the premises of the Innovation Startup Center in Stara Pazova within the framework of the Renewable energy communities for EU regions (REC4EU) project.
The meeting was attended by various actors in the Srem region who play a key role in achieving the improvement of the policies foreseen in the REC4EU project.
At the meeting, the results of the project so far were presented, as well as opportunities for the development of energy communities in the region – the initiative: “Energy community in the Regional Center for Sustainable Development in Sremska Mitrovica – the first multifunctional community of renewable energy”.
Special emphasis was placed on amendments to the relevant regulations – primarily the Energy Act and the Act on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources (last amended in 2024), which introduce and continue to develop the legal framework for Citizen Energy Communities (CECs) and Communities of Renewable Energy Sources (CECs).
Although these concepts are formally recognized in the legislation, key by-laws and practical guidelines for their full application are still missing. This is exactly what was recognized as one of the regulatory barriers within the scope of the SWOT analysis conducted by the RRA Srem in the REC4EU project.
Those present were informed about the following activities and the upcoming international event that will be organized by RRA Srem in Ruma (May 26-27, 2026) with the participation of all project partners from the EU as part of the REC4EU project.
The project “Renewable Energy Communities for EU regions” (REC4EU) is funded under the Interreg Europe program 2021-2027.
