Vice President of the Provincial Government and Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, Ivan Djokovic received the RDA Srem director, Milan Miric, and President of the Assembly of the City of Sremska Mitrovica, Tomislav Jankovic and a delegation from the Municipal Administration. The talking point of the meeting were potentials and improvement of tourism infrastructure in Srem, primarily through the implementation of the project of setting up cycling signalization and mobiliary along the route Srem. In this way, the synergy of regional and local relevant institutions more efficient networks the cycling infrastructure in this area, linking with the available rural capacities.
“The goal of the provincial administration is to draw up a detailed master plan of tourist signalization in Vojvodina, which would include EuroVelo cycling routes and tourist signalization. Master plan of tourist signalization of the Republic of Serbia contains only general methodology, pictograms, signs, design, colour and method of the ways of signposting. The idea is to implement the project of setting tourist signs throughout the territory of AP Vojvodina, which would be identified by relying on its own research and mapping of sites and routes, along with cycling Union, local governments and their tourist organizations. By crossing the data, the priorities would be set. One of the key priorities is the EuroVelo 6, 11 and 13, which pass through Vojvodina, which brings about 20,000 cyclo-tourists a year based on an average three day-calculation”, said the Vice President, Mr Đoković. He also pointed out that the objective of raising the quality of service provided for these tourists, who are, according to statistics, high purchasing power looking for recreation and adventure, as well as an extension of their stay in the territory of the Autonomous Province.
The Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and the Provincial Government support the project of setting up cycling signalization in Srem. The Regional Development Agency Srem, taking into account the official beginning of the tourist season in the National Park „Fruska gora“, monitors the implementation and timely realization of works. Connecting the route Srem with the Srijem route (border crossing Šid – Tovarnik), laterals in Beočin and Novi Sad and connection with the international route EuroVelo 6 to Banstol in Indjija Municipality, will enable the accessibility, security, and therefore a greater inflow of foreign bike tourists. The Austrian Development Agency ADA and the Swiss Agency for Development SDC have also supported the project.
