In the period from June 5 – 7, RDA Srem has organized training for IMWG members on “Application of FIDIC conditions of contract in Serbia and the role of local government”. The consultant firm, EUbuild, from Belgrade, conducted three-day training. The planned activity has been realized within the project “Integrated Irrigation Srem region” funded by the EU IPA and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
FIDIC stands for International Federation of Consulting Engineers (Fédération Internationale des ingénieursconseils) which was founded in 1913 with its headquarters in Geneva and today it has 83 national engineering and consulting associations around the world, as well as millions of professionals in the field of civil engineering and related fields. FIDIC defines a standardized model of contracts for different types of investment projects, with reduced risks and the interests of participants in the project are protected.
For this reason, the aim of the training was to enable the representatives of local governments in the Srem region and public water-supply companies and partners in the project to provide the basic principles of investment management through the FIDIC conditions, characteristics of FIDIC conditions of contract and stage of investment management.
Infrastructure projects, especially in the field of water supply, wastewater treatment, irrigation and water protection investments are of particular importance for the Srem region and their implementation funded by potential donors: the European Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the German Development Bank. The importance of FIDIC procedures and the conditions of the building is reflected in the fact that it is not enough to have a good project and be a good engineer, but in the art of interaction of technical knowledge, experience and management of investment projects.
