Regional concept of creating projects in the region of Srem, with Regional Development Agency Srem (RDA Srem) as a leader, once again proved to be a successful as the European Union, under the third call for cross-border cooperation between Serbia and BiH, has decided to finance a project entitled „Emergency response NOW – ERNOW“.
In the Republic of Serbia project holder is the municipality of Šid and the city of Sremska Mitrovica is a partner, while the Brcko District and the municipality of Brod are partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The financial value of the project is € 1,159.901, of which the partner from the Republic of Serbia receive € 555,764 and € 604,136 to the Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the opening conference of the project, which was held today in Brcko, director of the RDA Srem and project coordinator Milan Miric said that most of the funds are intended to be spent on the purchase of equipment and machines for the purposes of civil protection as well as public enterprises and entities that are in charge for flood protection.
According to him, according to the Sava Commission estimation, the area along the Sava river, from Brod to Sremska Mitrovica, is still exposed to the dangers of flooding.
As soft measure within the project, a joint response plans will be developed in the Sava River Basin in the border area of Šid, i.e. Sremska Mitrovica, as well as the Brcko District and the municipality of Brod. As one of the activities will be a joint demonstration exercise in which will be applied all that will be determined by future plans and where all of the obtained equipment and machines will be used. The main objective of the project presented today, is to create a functional system of protection and rescue of people and material goods in case of emergencies.
Regional Development Agency Srem is responsible for supporting the realization of this project which will be implemented in the following 18 months.
