On 26th March 2012, at the City Administration building of the City of Zrenjanin, the second session of the Regional development council for the region of Vojvodina was held. The session was chaired by the president of the Council, Mr Dejan Avdalovic Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. On that occasion, Mr Avdalovic congratulated the award of accreditation to regional development agencies in Vojvodina – Director of Regional Development Agency Srem-Milan Miric, Director of the Regional Development Center Banat-Irena Zivkovic and Director of the Regional Development Agency Backa-Srdjan Vezmar. Directors of Regional Development Agencies have submitted a report on operations in the past with an emphasis on the realization and implementation of project activities aimed at fostering inter-municipal, interregional and international cooperation. These activities provided better planning at all levels in order to implement the policy of balanced regional development and to provide the conditions for efficient use of domestic and foreign resources to meet the needs of the region.
Among regular members, the session attended Mrs Dragijana Radonjic Petrovic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, who emphasized the importance of implementing policies and programs of the National Agency for Regional Development for the implementation of which the accredited development agencies will be in charge.
Director of RDA Srem, Milan Miric pointed out that it is essential for the Municipalities of Srem region to become members and to operate within of the Regional Development Council of Vojvodina region, noting that the region is economically active, responsible for the development of Vojvodina and of interest to investors.
„Srem with its development potentials, and therefore the need for further investment in infrastructure, must have membership in the Council and together with other municipalities and counties to create their own development, including the development of Vojvodina.“ – said Miric.
