In premises of the Regional Development Agency Srem 21/03/2014, the contract was signed on the designing of the Preliminary Feasibility Study and General Project of integrated irrigation system in the Srem region. These are the most important documents that are now in process of designing in Srem. This document establishes a long-term concept of irrigation and provides defining of the priorities of irrigation development taking into account the spatial specifics and other requirements for water in agriculture Srem.
“We are now preparing the documentation that is an essential precondition for the concept of irrigation of Srem to be implemented as soon as possible. If I say that the preliminary project cost of irrigation in Srem is assessed at 500 million EUR than it is obvious the importance of such Contracts we have signed today. I am also pleased about the fact that we have got applying very precisely defined conditions and criteria for designers and developers applying the EU procedure for conducting tenders. These processors are the Water Management Institute Jaroslav Cherni and Belgrade Banking Academy being in a consortium with the Institute of agricultural economics Belgrade drafter of the study,” said Mr Milan Miric, director of RDA Srem, for the media.
By this project, the need for technical design has been recognized for modern irrigation systems , RDA Srem with municipalities and project partners have identified the need for the establishment of economically sustainable model of irrigation defining the management of these systems , the role of local government and funding. All of these are the tasks for processors and that the RDA Srem with the Srem municipalities.
In forthcoming period, we will start with the introduction of processors and designers in the business, and a joint coordination body will be formed that will have a role of a permanent and immediate harmonization and coordination of the activities of both project teams.
The project is implemented with the help of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and EU donations, for EUR 290.000.
