In the RDA Srem premises a joint meeting was held which was attended by the representatives of contracting authority – RDA Srem, Contractor – “Paleta Color”, Novi Sad, and the organization for the control of performed works – “Project S”, Belgrade. The aim of the meeting was introducing the business plan and defining the activities of the project development and installation of traffic signs on the regional cycling route Srem. The project is funded by The Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism in the amount of 2.000.000,00 RSD.
The second phase of the project implementation “Danube Bike – establishing regional cycling route Srem” (funded by the IPA and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA)) is in progress. The works include a setting of 126 signposts at the length of 78.7 km. It will also include Grebenski put through the National Park “Fruska gora” of Šid, Backa Palanka, Irig, Inđija, Beočin, Sremski Karlovci and cities of Sremska Mitrovica and Novi Sad. Since that the route uses a network of existing local and state roads, it was necessary to obtain the necessary permits and decisions for setting the respective signage, as well as the approval of the Provincial Institute for Nature Protection. On this occasion, the meeting was an opportunity to make a clear plan and dynamics of work, communication and reporting. Expectations are for the upcoming period of three months for this work to be completed a signalling to become the property of municipalities and cities in which it will be posted.
The preparation of public procurement for the project of designing and setting up bike rest areas along the route Srem is in progress. The project is funded by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in the amount of 3,000,000.00 RSD and it should be completed by the end of 2016. Considering that, after the implementation of these two projects, cycling routes Srem will be physically established and become visible to domestic and foreign cycle-tourists, the final conference is planned to be held and the representatives of Austrian donor and Ministry and the Provincial Secretariat will be invited, as well as representatives of NPFG, cities and municipalities through which route passes. At the final conference all the benefits and effects of such established cycling route Srem would be presented, especially for service providers, residents, both domestic and cyclists from the neighbouring regions.
