The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and its partner, the Regional Development Agency Srem (Srem RRA), organized the first meeting of the stakeholders of the Srem District. The meeting took place in the premises of the City Hall in Ruma and the main topic was the implementation of the project „Mapping of local space, infrastructure, resource and logistic support for the production of electricity and/or heat from biomass in Srem“, funded by the Fund of the Embassy of Finland.
Dragan Panic, the Mayor Ruma welcomed the present participants, representatives of relevant institutions and municipalities of Srem region; Djordje Staničić, Secretary General of the SCTM and Outi Isotalo, The First Secretary of the Embassy of Finland. They emphasized the importance of using biomass for energy purposes and the need to create conditions for investment activities and investment projects in biomass utilization.
Miodrag Gluščević, Expert Associate SCTM gave introductory remarks about the project and gave a presentation on donor cooperation in the field of biomass in Serbia. As most noted factors necessary for investment in biomass projects that relate to the physical planning and land use, local energy demand, present and future availability of infrastructure, the potential of biomass logistics in the current and future supply chain of biomass, non-energy demand for biomass.
Milan Miric, director of the RDA Srem presented to the audience the importance of the project for the local governments of the Srem District. The role of RDAs Srem especially pointed out and its current activities on projects in the field of agriculture and renewable energy sources, relevant to the treatment of the problem of using biomass.
Dejan Ivezić, Professor at Mining – Geology Faculty in Belgrade, gave a presentation on the topic of methodological approaches in the implementation of project activities.
