-The fourth meeting of the Permanent Working Group for Regional Development of South East Europe – SWG was held in Ilok and was attended by representatives of municipalities and regional development agencies of Drina – Sava region. Development that is based on a particular area (ABD), is an innovative approach that enables the sustainable development of rural areas of cross-border region Drina – Sava and the improvement of living conditions.
The overall goal of the SWG group is to strengthen horizontal cooperation among countries and territories of South East Europe and in accordance with it started the project “Assessment and Development Strategy and Action Plan for the Area Based approach in the territory of Drina – Sava cross-border area”. Regional Development Agency Srem, as the only accredited institution in the region of Srem that deals with issues of regional development, has one of the most important roles in the mobilization of stakeholders and the implementation of this program in the region of Srem.Based on developed methodology on previous three meetings, in which implementation took part and PhD Natalija Bogdanov and PhD Aleksandra Nikolic together with SWG working groups, a final strategic framework was created and the action plan for the SWG support in the preparation of proposals and implementation of the ABD approach in the Drina – Sava region. The strategic framework was presented at the fourth meeting in Ilok.
This kind of cooperation is a great opportunity for all representatives of municipalities, regional development agencies and civil society in the Drina-Sava region to review the current situation and potential of the region, develop appropriate partnerships and project approach to enhance cross-border development in rural areas.
